New Year, New Jewelry
Happy New Year! Several more new Petoskey pieces coming to my Etsy shop soon, including some pieces made from slag glass. Slag glass, or Leland Blue Stone, is a waste product from the smelting process used in the late 1800s by the Leland Lake Superior Iron Company melting process: raw ore is heated, and the desired iron ore is separated from various natural impurities. When those impurities cool, the result is stone-like slag. (Source: https://www.lelandmi.com/about/leland-blue-stones.html)

Almost Christmas???
Wow, I cannot believe it is a week until Christmas! Every year goes by faster and faster....it seems like just a few months ago we were spending New Year's Eve in Florida! Mostly been working on Petoskey stone jewelry, interspersed with some resin and other beaded creations.
All available in my Etsy shop! Happy Holidays!!

Zoanthus Coral
So I got a rock/jewelry tumbler for my birthday. Excited to try it out, especially to try to tumble some Petoskey stones. After some research, found a lot of sites that recommend only polishing by hand, as the stones are so soft. But there are a couple of sites that have some instruction, so I will give it a whirl. Hand polishing really does a number on my hands!
During my research, I came across a few sites that showed pictures of live coral similar to the coral that Petoskey stones came from. So cool!
So hopefully soon I will have some more new jewelry to post!

Have a craft show coming up in a couple of weeks, wanted to get some new stuff to take, so I spent the weekend working on some seed bead bracelets and polishing up some Petoskey stones to make some earrings and necklaces. Note I now offer free domestic shipping in my shop for all orders over $25!

My New Dremel 4000
My latest project, drilling some glass and stones with my new Dremel 4000 I got for my birthday.
Learned two things today:
1. Petoskey stones are softer than beach glass.
2. Hold on tight or they become tiny projectiles!

Not sure if I will be selling these as supplies or making into jewelry. Probably both!

New Rustic Collection
Another new collection in my shop, Rustic Collection. Jewelry pieces made from stones, beach glass, leather and metal. I have had some of these stones and beach glass in my stash for years! Don't know why it took me so long to do anything with them!
All of the stones in these particular pieces below are from the Great Lakes. You can find them in my shop here.
