Happy New Year! Valentine's Day Sale!

Wow, January is almost over!  The weather here in Michigan actually hasn't been too bad, no sub-zero temperatures to contend with so far this winter, and not much snow, other than the 6 inches we got last weekend.  I've been working on all sorts of different projects this month, feeling a little more creative than usual I guess!

A few of my recent creations:

Layered Seed Bead Necklace Set

Toes in the Sand, Wine in my Hand Garnet Bracelet

Millefiori Daisy Fused Glass Pendant

Petoskey Stone and Amazonite Necklace

Believe Starfish Resin Pendant

Copper Heart Earrings

Live Love Lake Petoskey Charm Pendant

Since Valentine's Day is just a few weeks away, I thought it might be a good time for a sale too!  Fifteen percent off most items until February 7, 2020.  Check it out here!

Fused Glass

Got my mini kiln out this weekend, probably haven't used it in over a year?  Did up a couple of batches of pendants, always excited to see how the glass changes after firing.  Here is a before and after pic of some pendants:

Before

After

Here's another after picture, I was kind of disappointed in the results of the top right, I though the top layer of glass would be more clear, you can't see the second layer of glass, which was hearts (like the other one).  Oh well, live and learn!  I need to take better notes!

I added fused decals to the two pink/rose pendants, here is one of them, strung on a necklace of soft pink seed beads, now available in my Etsy shop:

I hope to get the other pendants added to my shop soon.

Homemade "Beach Glass"

One of my completed pendants

So I was playing with my glass scraps the other day, made up some fused glass pendants in my mini kiln.  I got out the etching cream to etch some designs on a couple of dichroic glass scraps. While I was waiting for the pendants to fuse, I surfed the internet for some inspiration.  I came across a site that said you could use etching cream to make glass scraps look like beach glass. What a great idea!  I had some broken up pieces of wine bottles in a container as I wanted to fuse them in my kiln as an experiment, so I grabbed a couple and dipped them in the etching cream.  I fused one of the pieces with a few other pendants to see how it turned out.

Glass on the left is untouched, glass on the right is fused and etched

After fusing, the glass lost its sharp edges, but it also lost its etched look, so I dipped it in the etching cream again.   Now I have another piece of "beach glass" to wire wrap and make into a pendant.  What a fun way to recycle my wine bottles!

Fused Glass

One of my Christmas presents from my DH was a SpeedFire Mini Electric Kiln. I tried it out for the first time this weekend, making some fused glass pendants. Here's one of my first attempts:

My favorite so far:
